project themed 2026 : “empire” / exhibition

Il y a de cela, fort longtemps … ou pas

A long time ago… or not

As every year, a theme is explored, and this year it's "Empire". In a constantly evolving world, the term "Empire" evokes a rich history of conquest. Painting, as a living art form, captures these complex narratives, creating an unbreakable link between art and history. Each canvas presents a unique interpretation using color, texture, and form to illustrate the vastness of empires of yesteryear. Scenes of epic battles tell stories of power, glory, and sometimes tragedy, reflecting prosperity, decadence, order, and chaos.

The stories of iconic figures like Alexander the Great, Genghis Khan, and Caesar, as well as the Roman legends of Romulus and Remus and the Zan dynasty, also highlight the consequences of excess and the invasions that often accompany greatness. These legends reveal the exchange of knowledge and technology between civilizations, such as along the Silk Road.

This is an opportunity to redefine our understanding of history and our place in a world rich with imperial narratives that resonate powerfully and in a very particular way in our modern lives.
